“We’ve got a lot of apprentices at the moment. There is quite a significant shortage of staff around. I think that’s an issue everywhere, and we’re even developing Kiddies Corner Academy to train staff. Ideally, our employees should be full-time and long-term, so the children know who they are.”

Tony Gibbons is the Managing Director of Kiddies Corner and describes how competitive recruitment is at the minute for nurseries and childcare businesses. According to a recent survey and article by The Guardian, in some nurseries, one adult can care for four children aged two.
